Berea is super fussy around 10 or 10:30 every day, and usually her desperate plea for sleep is answered by a sunny day and a stroller ride. Alas, today is a rainy day and no chance of a stroller ride in sight. So, I thought I'd be super-tricky and do what the rest of the mommas do and just lay her down, tell her its naptime, like we do in the afternoon. And she almost went for it. Then, I hear Anderson telling her to go back to bed. And now Miss Whiney Pants is back. Oh, how the tables have turned from yesterday's post, right? We did enjoy some reading time, the 3 of us, a few minutes before naptime. We have the best book, its Old Timey and called Birds and from Joy Smith and (run on sentence maker completely aware of her tendencies) and when I figure out how to upload pics, they will be forthcoming, because that is by far my favorite thing about this book. Also, it names the birds. How fun! I've always wanted to learn the names of bird, old-retired couple-style, and now I get to, with my children. So, that's another fun thing about being a parent. Learning all the things you wanted to take time to learn, as you teach them to your babies.
She just said, "Happy Day...Happy Day" as she's listening to Elizabeth Mitchell's "Lover's Lane."
"You're just the girl of my dreams...oh it seems like my dreams never come true...brown eyed..."

I'm Going Back to the Start
So, there's nothing like this having a girl thing. Or maybe its this having Berea thing. Case in point: She just inserted a wetwipe into a new clear vase we got from some lovely friends' yard sale this weekend. She is obsessed with laying washcloths, wet wipes, cloth diapers, generally anything with right angles, down and getting them to lay flat. As her always naturally exasperated mother, I must say its kinda hard.
Oh. Now hearing the song of the day. Coldplay's "Science." Mostly just because of these two lines:
"Nobody said it was easy...No one ever said it would be this haaard...I'm going back to the start."
So, Anderson and I had a rough go of it today. And before that, Jesse and I did, too. My only respite is this sweet girl who feels I can do no wrong. And I need that exact thing right now. For those who are interested in what I need. Something I didn't mention in my first "surly" blog...I intend to be about as selfish as I really am in these so as to hopefully extract it all and leave it here. Cause I've noticed that my friends who blog, not that they blog selfishly at all, but they seem less obsessed with saying everything in their head when I see them, and I was thinking, maybe its because they've already said it!
So. Back to me and the girl and cooking our dinner.
Jesse is a good daddy and taking my good boy to dinner, just the two of them. It will all be OK.

About as Cute as a 3 year old Moonpie.
I am drinking some GHIRADELLI PREMIUM HOT COCOA Double Chocolate and it is so good I almost can't stop drinking it. But, I did, to tell you, dear late-night blog-reader, about it. And now it is probably cold. Nearly. Anyway, I really love all hot chocolate types, but tonight I bought the single serve, cause I have been known to take out a whole box in one evening. It is soooooo good!! I know, I am sounding completely in my tweens, but it just is, ok? I sometimes like to call it Chocolate Soup. Isn't that cute? I will heretofore be convincing you, sentence by sentences, of my cuteness, because isn't that what a blog is for?
Also, evidence of my cuteness: I cut my hair. And it is cute. Dang, blogs are boring without pictures! I can't figure out how to get my phone pics to our borrowed laptop just yet. I'm kinda lazy about such endeavors and would rather let Jesse figure it out for me. Also, I am very forthcoming, and honest and REAL...isn't that what a blog is for? No it is not. In fact, I will probably stop reading your blog if it is generally what listening to you speak would sound like. I need you to be funny and smart and inspiring and teach me how to repurpose or refurbish something. And I need you to have pictures. This is why I suck at blogging and never post more than 3 blogs per blogname. Naming the blog is really the most fun part of blogging. You think its going to be so cute and represent you so well in the world--all your dreams, hopes, and best parts...and then, after pooping and peeing on you for two years straight, it goes and does every possible thing to annoy you that it can think of. But occasionally, it is cute, so you forgive it.
I named this blog Mama Tried cause I like singing the song and I'm a Mama who tries. That is all.
It seems like I should tell you some things. Some braggy things. Some things my relatives would want to read about. Well. Hmmmm...I ran a race! A 5k . It is a race to raise money for sponsoring an adoption every year. The Titus Task. The story of how it got started is pretty hardcore. You should check into it for next year. It turns out I get a tiny bit competitive during the race. Not before or after. I ran it in 27 minutes and 6.2 seconds. That is not fast at all, but it was for me. Anderson walked alongside during the family fun run. He is not in too much of a hurry, usually. And so we were last. But I really enjoyed walking with that boy. A whole mile of looking around at trees and streams and the road. "That's a bootiful bridge, Mommy." and "Is it about to be breakfast or wunch?" Also, I saw Sara N. an ample amount of time that day. Big treat for me. And, what else? We are moving. To a new, cute 2 bedroom on a quiet little street in West Siloam. There will be nearby goats. The tree in the front yard is lovely and tossing its bright yellow leaves to the ground.
